Overview
When planning and creating new User Defined Fields (UDFs) it is important to understand how different UDF types can be used in the rules engine to ensure the UDFs and subsequent rules meet business needs and policies.
UDF Formats
There are four UDF formats:
- alpha-numeric
- amount
- number
- date
While all formats may be used in rules and reports, only the alpha-numeric UDF format may be used in VIP lists.
Application
From the Rules Editor Rule Conditions list, select User Defined Fields to expand the list of available fields. The following are just a few examples of how the various formats can be used in rules.
Alpha-numeric
Amount
Date
Note: Uncheck the Relative date checkbox to include an exact date.
Number
Note: The rules engine is unable to distinguish between a UDF value of 0 and a Null value (i.e. no value was provided for the UDF). If there are scenarios where your integration may not pass Kount any value for a UDF then you should use caution when writing rules to evaluate if the UDF value equals 0.
