Customers have the ability to interact with Kount using Restful Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). Restful API access will allow a customer to programmatically interact with Kount “under the hood” so to speak, bypassing the Agent Web Console (AWC) completely. These systems can be connected to an in-house interface so decisions can be made automatically.
If you request these services, Kount allows you to communicate with our application servers over the internet through a series of notifications and Restful API calls. APIs allow you to send information to Kount, such as adding a large number of email addresses to a VIP list and receiving a response stating if your changes were successful.
Kount Environments and Authentication
Kount has separate environments for testing and production. We encourage the use of the Kount Test environment to establish and validate the Restful API Connection.
Creating an API Key
API Keys are required to authenticate to Kount. Each environment requires a separate API key. The API Key created for the Test environment will only work in Test and the API Key created in the Production environment will only work in Production. API Keys can have several different permissions associated with them. API Permissions are required for the Restful API Endpoints, there may be an existing Key within Test or Production that has these permissions already. Keys with existing API permission may be used instead if so desired.
If a new key is needed, API keys are created within the AWC.
- After logging in, click the Admin menu, select API Keys, then select Create API Key.
- Check the API checkbox and any other required permissions when creating the API key. If a key exists with API permissions you may use this instead.
- The API Key is required with each call to Kount.
