Authorization Optimizer provides a solution that shares the fraud intelligence from your pre-authorization risk decision with participating card issuers before they make an authorization decision. Issuers that receive this data have more context about the cardholder and the order, which helps them approve legitimate transactions that they might otherwise decline.
In a one-year proof of concept on millions of transactions, Authorization Optimizer increased transactional accuracy by 20 to 25 percent and increased approval rates by up to two times.
In a pre-authorization workflow, you send an order to Payments Fraud for a risk decision. If Payments Fraud approves the order, you send an authorization request to your payment processor, and the processor routes the request to the card issuer.
The authorization request contains card and transaction data only. The issuer does not receive the device, email, identity, and risk signals that Payments Fraud used to approve the order. Without that context, issuers decline some transactions that Payments Fraud has already identified as low risk. These false declines reduce your revenue and interrupt the purchase for your clients.
-
Shared risk decision: Sends the Payments Fraud decision and Omniscore for the order to participating issuers.
-
Device and identity signals: Sends device, location, email, and persona data that Payments Fraud collected and evaluated.
-
Order details: Sends billing, shipping, and order summary data, including recurring billing details.
-
Bank Identification Number (BIN) matching: Identifies transactions from participating issuers automatically during your standard checkout flow.
-
Issuer-specific data mapping: Formats the data to the technical requirements of each issuer partner.
-
No checkout changes: Runs in the background after the risk decision. Your checkout, payment gateway, and payment processor do not change.
Authorization Optimizer is available to Payments Fraud customers that meet the following requirements:

Note
Authorization Optimizer is a separate product on your contract and a separate line item on your invoice. It does not change your Payments Fraud rate.
The issuer network covers about 20 percent of card transactions in the United States. Participating issuers include Bank of America, Capital One, American Express, and more than 4,500 credit unions in the United States.
We add issuers as they join the program. To request the current list of participating BINs, contact your Customer Success Manager.
