How to Configure IP Address Range Whitelist Networks

Larger businesses typically need more than one IP network address to manage network traffic. In these cases, a range of IP addresses is configured with a subnet mask.

An IP address is a logical numeric address that is assigned to every single computer, printer, switch, router, or any other device that is part of a TCP/IP-based network. The network's IPv4 address represents the entire network and its range of IP addresses. It appears as a series of four values separated by periods such as, for example, 100.100.125.0.

A Subnet is a separate and identifiable portion of an organization's network, typically arranged on one floor, building, logical, or geographical location.

A Subnet Mask is used to configure subnets within your network and is a 32-bit number used to differentiate the network component of an IP address by dividing the IP address into a network address and host address. It is also expressed as a series of four values separated by periods and can, for example, appear as 255.255.255.0.

When configuring IP Address Range Whitelists, you need to know your company's IP Network Address and Subnet Mask. If you want to only configure part of your network in the Whitelist Range, you will need to know that specific Subnet Mask value.

If you are unfamiliar with networking and Subnet Masks, please consult your internal IT or Operations Department.

To perform this configuration:

1. Click Add IP Range to Whitelist.
2. In the Add IP Range to Whitelist box, enter your company's Network IP Address, add the desired Subnet Mask, and then add a informational description.
3. When finished, click Save Entry.
   
4. You are then taken back to the IP Whitelist main page and you will see the information has been added, including the lower and upper boundaries of your network address range.
   
   Note: The values used here are for example only and are not meant to be used in your production environment.
5. Click Enable to enable the whitelist.
   
6. To Edit or Delete this entry, click the gear icon at the far right of the table and select either Edit or Delete.
