Melissa Data Explained

Melissa Data is a third-party service that we use to verify the validity of U.S. billing and shipping postal addresses submitted with transactions. The results of a Melissa Data verification can be seen in the Agent Web Console (AWC) on Transaction Details in the Addresses gadget. International addresses are not included in the Melissa Data database, and therefore can't be verified by this service.

Melissa Data uses a large number of validation codes to return the specific status of any United States Postal Service (USPS) address checked. A complete list of these codes can be found in the Fraud Control Guide.
